Former Indian Captain, Sourav Ganguly is all set to become the new president of The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Ganguly AKA Dada currently holds several positions in the Indian Cricket, which he’ll give up all after holding the top position of BCCI President within few days.
He took over India’s captaincy after the fixing saga in 2000, and till today he is considered as one of the best captains in the history of Indian Cricket.
The “Prince of Kolkata”, Sourav Ganguly is currently the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). However, he’ll have to resign from this post on July 2020.
During his captaincy tenure, Ganguly has led the side admirably and built the team for the future.
He played 311 ODIs and 113 Tests for India in which he scored more than 18000 runs. However, because of his poor form with the bat and some issues with Greg Chappel, he had to step down from captaincy in 2006.
Sourav Ganguly’s Vision as BCCI President
The vision of Sourav Ganguly on becoming the BCCI President is clear. In one of the recent events, he said: “For me, my biggest focus as a President of the Board will be on India’s First-Class Cricket. I have been very vocal about looking after the first-class players, especially the time they invest”.
He also added, “First-Class cricket is the base, the strength. I have written so many times in the last few years that the remunerations need to increase, and increase manifold. So that’s going to be a priority to set the FC cricket in order. Look at cricket structure, look at how governance happens and see smooth functioning happens with no issues.”
He also appreciated Virat Kohli and the current Indian team for their performance in recent test series against South Africa.

After the match-fixing controversy in the year 2000, the Indian team needed a captain who can reform the team’s spirit and lead them back on the way of success. Thus, Dada took on the responsibility from there and led the Indian Cricket Team from the front.
