The Final of IPL 2019 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was unarguably awesome. It ended with Mumbai Indians as the winning side.

The crowd at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Hyderabad was highly cheerful after the completion of the MI vs CSK Final match as Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians managed to win their 4th IPL title. However, the CSK fans were not so happy with some incidents like Dhoni’s runout decision and Shane Watson’s suicidal dismissal.

Mumbai Indians Set Up a Competitive Target

Rohit Sharma won the toss in finals and decided to bat first on the flat wicket. However, the bowlers of CSK restricted them at 149/8, considering 20-30 short of the par score.

Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma gave a stable opening to their side by adding 45 runs on 29 balls. The CSK pacers were struggling against the left and right-hand combination before the things get started to fall in their favour.

De Kock and Rohit both lost their wickets in the consecutive overs of Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur, resulting in two new batsmen to come in the middle at a short interval of time.

The things were going as planned for the Dhoni’s side before Suresh Raina dropped an easy catch of the hard-hitter “Hardik Pandya” in the 18th over. From there onwards, Kieron Pollard stood firmly on one end and took command of gathering as many runs for his team to defend.

Finally, Pollard took MI to a fighting total of 149 by smashing 41 runs on just 25 balls in the big game.

To chase the score of 149 runs in the finals, CSK’s openers Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson came into the middle. Looking at the start provided by both, every CSK fan was highly pleased and happy.

However, their happiness didn’t stand for long as Faf got stumped to Krunal Pandya after scoring 26 off 13. Mr IPL, Suresh Raina also found hard to survive the heat of pressure and was nipped out by Rahul Chahar on an individual score of 8.

The Super Kings’ fans were still not upset, as the “Thala” was ready to come to bat. When CSK required 68 off 44 balls, MS Dhoni succumbed to a run-out by the direct-hit of Ishan Kishan.

The fans (including Me) and commentators believed it to be a wrong decision by the third umpire, but MS had to depart as the “Rules are Rules” and once given out by the third umpire, no can change the decision.

On one end, where wickets were falling like the playing cards, Shane Watson holds the other one struggling to take his team home with the triumph.

Wato tried his heart out and played an excellent knock of 80 off 59, but can’t save the match from the jaws of defeat.
