DC vs KKR Super Over

Twitter Reacts to Rabada’s Super Over and Shaw’s Class Against KKR

Nothing can be more interesting than a Super Over in IPL. Kotla also witnessed its first one yesterday, when Delhi Capitals (DC) took on the Kolkata Kight Riders (KKR) in a super over win.

Prithvi Shaw and Kagiso Rabada were the two heroes of this nail-biting encounter between DC and KKR. However, the Shreyas Iyer-led DC got sensationally chocked in the chase after Shaw got out on 99, missing his first T20 ton by an inch.

About the Main Encounter

The 10th Match of the IPL 2019 was completely worth for the Feroz Shah Kotla’s crowd. Every spectator (especially a DC fan) was highly pleased to be a part of this historical encounter of DC vs KKR on Saturday.

While the Carribean giant Andre Russell and KKR’s skipper Dinesh Karthik played magnificent knocks, the young lad Prithvi Shaw was absolutely class in the chase.

At one stage of the game, Kolkata Knight Riders lost half of their players on the score of just 54. However, Russell & Karthik played the innings of their lives and managed to put a fighting target of 186 runs for the hosts to chase.

In the second half of the game, Shikhar Dhawan gave a quick start to the Capitals’ innings by scoring 16 runs off 7 balls before getting trapped in Piyush Chawla’s googly. However, Shaw on the other end looked focused and confident to take on the Knight Rider’s bowling attack.

DC’s skipper Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw added 89 runs for the second wicket to put their side in a match-winning position.

The Russell-Karthik Show

Before the duo (Russell and Karthik) got together in the middle, the things weren’t going as planned for the Shahrukh Khan-owned KKR. The top order of the visitors collapsed miserably leaving the KKR fans in disappointment.

But then started the “Russell-Karthik Show”.

The duo charged the DC’s bowlers brutally with utter disdain to put 95-run partnership for the 6th wicket.

However, the hard work from the skipper and Andre Russell went in vain because of the world-class South African pacer and a youngster from Mumbai.

The Super Over

In the last over of the game, Delhi Capitals needed only 6 runs to win with Colin Ingram and Hanuman Vihari present on the pitch.

The chinaman, “Kuldeep Yadav” was trusted by the captain Dinesh Karthik and given responsibility to defend those runs in the final over.

Unexpectedly, Yadav managed to do the same and defended 6 runs in the last over, resulting in the match to head towards the Super Over. To the fans it looked like Jasprit Bumrah wore the mask of Kuldeep Yadav to bowl that final over.

Now, the time was for the first super over of IPL 2019.

In the first ever ‘super over’ at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, the home team batted first and managed to score only 10 runs because of Prasidh Krishna’s brilliant bowling.

Every individual of the cricket universe (except the Delhi Capital fans) were assured of the KKR’s victory after seeing Russell marching in the middle with  Dinesh Karthik for the chase.

But, the things changed, and it changed all because of the young South African talent – “Kagiso Rabada”.

Rabada bowled a perfect toe-hitting yorker to dismiss the danger-man Andre Russell on the third bowl of the super over. After his dismissal, Karthik and Uthappa failed to score the remaining 7 runs on 3 balls, resulting in DC to win this epic battle against the Knight Riders in their home fort.
